Monty Scott Is Done

Publisher
Posted Feb 20, 2007

The Dayton Flyers received some bad news tonight when they learned that Monty Scott will undergo surgery to repair a partial tear in his right knee on Thursday. Monty Scott has a partial tear in his patellar tendon of his right knee and ends his career as a Flyer with just a hand full of games remaining.

Monty Scott is the last player from Oliver Purnell’s’ era and he has taken his share of criticism from the Dayton Flyer faithful for settling in as a role player even though he was the lone Senior on this years team.

The Dayton Flyers take a 16 – 9 record in to St. Louis Tomorrow night. They will be without Monty of course, but they may also have to play without his backup Marcus Johnson because he is also recovering from an injury.

The injuries could not come at a worse time as Dayton is trying to make the post-season for the 1st time in 3 years. Even though the NCAA Automatic Bid that most had hoped for early in the year is gone, they still have a chance to win the A-10 tournament if they could get on a roll. A bid to the Nit is also an option for the Flyers if they can finish the season strong.

Monty Scott ends his career ranked 36th on the all-time scoring list at UD with 1,054 points. He had averaged 10 points and 4 rebounds a game for the Flyers this year.
